2026 Brackets for Books

Books for Brackets is an annual NCAA Men’s Tournament bracket challenge and fundraiser hosted by the Better Basics' Junior Board. With a $20 donation, you will compete for the top bracket while helping provide books to children in Central Alabama.

50% of entry fees support Better Basics.
50% goes to the winner of the challenge.

How It Works

1. Register
Make your $20 donation using the button below to enter the Brackets for Books Challenge.

2. Check Your Email
Once registered, you will receive an email with a link to join the Better Basics: Brackets for Books Challenge private group where you will create your bracket. Important: Brackets cannot be created until after Selection Sunday, 3/15, when the tournament teams and matchups are announced.

3. Build Your Bracket
Brackets open on Selection Sunday — March 15. Use the link in your email to join the group and complete your bracket.

4. Submit Your Picks
All brackets must be submitted by Thursday, March 19 at 11:15 AM CST, before the first round games tip off.

5. Follow the Tournament
Track your bracket throughout the NCAA Tournament. The participant with the highest score will win the challenge.

6. Winner Announcement

The winner will be contacted following the final championship game.

Rules at a Glance

• One bracket per email address
• Scoring follows the ESPN Standard scoring system
• Brackets submitted after the lock time (Thursday, March 19 at 11:15 AM CST) will not be accepted
